I am an admirer of the interior blogs I cite here, and I just thought I would share the joy I receive from them with those who may be interested here in Japan, since lots of people here are not so familiar with the blogs in other countries because of the language barrier (we all learn English at schools, but sometimes it is not enough). And the situation around interior design in Japan is…. not so good. Fashion (for clothes) is fine, but houses and furniture, etc…..far behind the world. Very limited choice. Yes, i learned a lot from these sites, just looking at them.
My intention is to try to just introduce the essence of the posts that I found useful and then lead the readers to the original sites. I am not sure how to cite properly, and I don’t want to do it wrongly.
I’ve looked for the good examples in vain. All those sites seems to use the copied photos of the interior pictures, I am not sure what is happening.
I am not comfortable in citing more than just part of the contents or the photos of each of the original page, and I try to make that as a hot-link with the link to the original article, so that the readers who happen to come here can go to the original sites, which I think is a good thing because it intends to increase the viewers of the original sites, contrary to the situation that often the hot-link is called ‘stealing of the server power’ in which case I understand you use others’ linked pictures mainly to support your own post without guiding to the original posts. Those interior photos on the internet are really confusing. There are so many same sets everywhere you never know which is the original. It looks like if you just mention the photographers it is OK, or are they all asking for permission to use beforehand? These things are unknown to me so for the moment I will just use the hotlinks. If you wish me to remove the link, please contact me (doremidoremi @ mac . com, remove spaces inbetween).
Presently, I am using site-approved Pinterest images whenever possible, since in those cases, the images are “not reproduced” but at the same time they do not cause the “stealing” of the server power of the original site. Pinterest is the site that allows people to use the image materials, and if one agrees to put the Pinterest button on their website, then they also agreed on the Pinterest user to use that image as well.
Specifically, the Design Sponge seems to refuse the direct linking, but it has Pinterest linked to all of their images, so I am presently switching all the images from the site to the Pinterest.
For other websites, some are Pinterested, but not all, so I am still working out the best way to do it properly.
Should you have any suggestions or requests, please let me know so that I could respond.
